Ali Jafri

I'm Ali Jafri, a PGY-4 in Diagnostic Radiology here in Saskatoon, though I originally hail from the faraway land of Toronto.
First, I am grateful to my co-residents, who view me with unconditional positive regard and elevate me with words I hope to someday be worthy of.
Lofty goals aside, my areas of interest are neuroimaging, artificial intelligence, and signal/image processing as it applies to diagnostic imaging.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading philosophy, lifting weights, going on walks, playing Dota 2, vibe coding, and annoying my cat, Mimi (shown above—hopefully).
Here are some of the reasons Ali was chosen as Resident of the Month (As quoted from the nomination letter):
"Throughout his time in the program, he has demonstrated key qualities that make him a perfect candidate to receive the “Resident of the Month” award. Ali was unanimously elected to the role of chief resident for this current academic year. He has a warm and welcoming presence that makes him a genuinely enjoyable person to have as a colleague. He brings a great sense of humour to our group and has a way of keeping everyone’s spirits high, even during the busier and more stressful parts of residency."
"Ali, without a doubt, is a role model for the residents. Ali provides frequent case-based teaching to the junior residents on important diagnoses which are critical to their learning and preparation for starting call. He creates fun and interactive ways to deliver educational content during our academic half days, such as a recent exercise with computer simulations and laser pointers to describe the complexities of MRI physics in a simplified manner."
"There is much more that Ali accomplishes behind the scenes in and out of the hospital. For example, he played an instrumental role in the fifth-year resident farewell this past June. Additionally, he helped with the many hours of packing these graduating residents had prior to their big transition to fellowship. Even with all the support he provides his colleagues, he still finds the time for his hobbies like working out, reading, long walks, and exploring technology. The diagnostic radiology program will forever be improved because of Ali’s contributions and his fellow residents will have gained an everlasting friendship with him."
Congrats, Ali!
